Lidl Cyprus presents its 2024 Sustainability Report, reflecting its steadfast commitment to responsible entrepreneurship that generates value for the Cypriot economy, society, and the environment. Under the central motto "Redefining Sustainability – Building our Common Home," this year's edition—presented in a magazine format—showcases how sustainability is transformed into daily practice.
A joint study for Cyprus and Greece
Notably, this year’s Report is a joint publication for Lidl Hellas and Lidl Cyprus, underscoring the organization’s unified strategy. This approach enables the exchange of best practices and maximizes positive impact in both countries through 5 key areas of action:
1. Climate Protection – Target of Net Zero by 2050.
2. Resource Conservation – Emphasis on Circularity.
3. Respect for Biodiversity – Responsible Sourcing & Ecosystem Protection.
4. Fair Business – Equality & Support for the Local Economy.
5. Promoting Health – Conscious Nutrition for All.
Social Contribution with Measurable Results
In 2024, Lidl Cyprus carried out social and environmental investments totaling €589,700. Significant initiatives include the operation of the Lidl Food Academy, the 5th Lidl Wellness Camp, and the ongoing partnership with the "Hope For Children" organization. Simultaneously, Lidl Hellas strengthened its social footprint with investments of €1.99 million, supporting organizations such as "The Smile of the Child".
"We wanted to show that sustainability is not just a theory. It consists of actions that happen every day—both small and large. This report is an open conversation about how we care for our land and how we evolve together with society," states Vasiliki Adamidou, Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Lidl Cyprus.
For the year 2024, the Sustainability Report at the Schwarz Group and Lidl Stiftung levels, which covers all countries where Lidl operates, follows international standards and European directives.
