A dynamic space addressing the complexities of today's maritime landscape, the OCEAN ROOM, was introduced as part of Limassol Municipality's Blue Economy Innovation Centre, according to a report by Andreas Karamitas. The inauguration drew Limassol's Mayor and Shipping Deputy Minister, who lauded its educational mission. Geared toward youth, the project aims to fortify maritime awareness.
In her address, the Deputy Minister remarked, "The Ocean Room serves as an educational hub, aiming to disseminate knowledge, ignite action, and instill stewardship in our young generation. This interactive hub is tailored to enlighten young minds about contemporary marine challenges. Through five themed stations covering vital topics like climate change, plastic pollution, endangered species, sustainable fishing, and Limassol's maritime heritage, participants will embark on a journey of exploration and problem-solving."
Mayor Nikos Nicolaides emphasized, "This signifies a modern and forward-thinking center devoted to our youth."
Royal Caribbean International generously sponsored the initiative, overseeing the construction of the interactive space in tangible support of stakeholders' efforts in advancing the blue economy and maritime literacy.
