Limassol police are investigating a murder following the discovery of a local man shot dead in his vehicle in a suspected drugland hit.

The body of a 44-year-old Greek Cypriot male was found by local residents in Kato Polemidia on Monday, with media reports saying a gunshot wounds to the chest were visible.
Police were said to know the identity of the victim, who had run-ins with law enforcement and was arrested in recently months over drug offences.
Conflicting reports regarding the murder quickly emerged, with some reports saying police investigators are looking into the possibility that the victim was murdered elsewhere and then moved to the final location.
However, witness reports were also cited in other local media saying gunshots were heard overnight. In that scenario, law enforcement officials are looking into the possibility that the victim was shot dead while driving.
State forensic pathologist Angeliki Papeta was called to the scene.
