Cypriot gymnast Marios Georgiou made history as one of the country's top Olympic performers, finishing sixth in the horizontal bar event with a score of 13.333.

Despite executing an outstanding routine, Georgiou's unfortunate fall during the dismount cost him a potential medal. This marked his third Olympic appearance and second final, following his previous participation at Rio 2016.

In another notable achievement for Cyprus, sprinter Olivia Fotopoulou advanced to the 200m final after finishing first in the third repechage round with a time of 22.92 seconds.

Her impressive performance secured her place in the grand final, where she aimed to secure one of the six available spots to complete the semi-final lineup. Fotopoulou's strong effort ensured her qualification, highlighting a successful day for Cypriot athletes on the world stage.
