The Ministry of Interior is seeking public feedback on a comprehensive plan to integrate third-country nationals residing legally in the country.
Interior Minister Konstantinos Ioannou announced the initiative during a public consultation on the Action Plan for the Integration and Social Inclusion of Migrants 2024-2026.
The plan, developed by the Ministry of Interior in collaboration with other government bodies, outlines 50 actions focused on five key areas: housing, employment, skills development, healthcare, and education.
"Social inclusion and integration are crucial aspects of migration policy," Ioannou emphasized. "We take this seriously and are committed to fostering a culture of acceptance among the Cypriot population."
The public consultations offer civil society organizations and citizens an opportunity to express their opinions and contribute to shaping the final plan. The feedback received will be "crucial" in ensuring the plan's effectiveness, according to Ioannou.
The Minister highlighted the importance of preparing migrants for smooth integration into Cypriot society. This includes equipping them with necessary skills and ensuring access to essential services.
Ioannou assured participants that all proposals will be carefully considered to develop an action plan that produces tangible and positive results.
