New cameras turn Limassol and Larnaca into Big Brother's playground

Roadside spies multiply: Invasion of privacy or safety measure?

On Monday, February 5, 2024, the traffic surveillance system is further expanded in the provinces of Limassol and Larnaca.

A total of 8 new stationary cameras will operate at the following 4 points:

Limassol province
- Activation of two devices at the junction of 28th October Avenue and Iakovou Tombazi.
- Two devices at the junction of Amathountos Avenue opposite Arsinoy Hotel.
- Two at the junction of Amathountos Avenue and Ariadnis Street.

Already in the Limassol Province, there are four stationary cameras at the intersection of Archbishop Makarios III Avenue - Nikou Pattichi and Archbishop Leontios I, and four at the intersection of Archbishop Makarios III Avenue and Agias Zonis.

Larnaca province
Additionally, two devices will be activated on a section of the Kiti-Mazotos road to monitor speed.

It is noted that mobile cameras are already used for speed control in the Limassol and Larnaca provinces.

The aim is always to reduce serious and fatal road accidents, as well as to promote proper road awareness in our country.
