Cyprus is set to host its first DOG FEST on September 19 and 20, with more than 55 businesses and animal-care professionals expected to take part in the two-day event in Nicosia.
The festival will be held at Pavilion 6 of the Cyprus State Fair from 10am to 8pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Tickets cost €5 per person, while children aged 12 and under can attend free of charge. Dogs can also enter without charge when accompanied by their owners.
Organisers say the event is designed to bring together dog owners, families, pet businesses and professionals in one location, while giving visitors the chance to learn more about animal care and discover products and services.
Exhibitors will include pet food and accessory companies, pet shops, grooming businesses, trainers and veterinarians. Visitors will also be able to pick up free samples, take part in competitions and access various giveaways.
The festival will be divided into several activity areas. The Action Arena will feature dog agility and protection demonstrations, along with games and interactive activities. At the Main Stage, experts supported by Purina Pro Plan will discuss subjects including canine health, nutrition, care and training.
Children will have their own activities at the Paws & Play Zone, which will include creative sessions, face painting, games and a photobooth.
Adoption and responsible pet ownership will be the focus of the Adopt & Love area, supported by Hill's.
Food and refreshments will be available at the outdoor Food & Drinks Village, which will include food, desserts, coffee and drinks, as well as music and family entertainment.
Organisers say promoting animal welfare and responsible ownership is a central part of the festival. Visitors bringing dogs are required to keep them on a secure leash and under supervision throughout their stay. Dogs may only be taken off the leash while taking part in designated activities.
Owners are also responsible for their animals' behaviour, safety and waste. Water stations and waste bins will be available around the venue.
The organisers advise against bringing dogs that are ill, particularly fearful, or uncomfortable around crowds, children, loud noise or other dogs.
Petfood Cyprus is the platinum sponsor, with Royal Canin as gold sponsor and Alphamega Hypermarkets as silver sponsor. Deejay 93.5 is the event's media sponsor.
A €5 voucher for online purchases from Pet Food Cyprus will also be provided with each admission ticket. The voucher can be used against purchases of €25 or more, subject to the sponsor's terms and conditions.
