A tragic plane crash in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, has left all 62 people on board dead after the aircraft plummeted into a residential area in the municipality of Vinhedo, local authorities confirmed on Friday.

The Voepass Airlines flight, which was carrying 58 passengers and four crew members, was en route from Cascavel in the state of Paraná to Guarulhos in São Paulo when it suddenly went down. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined, and the airline has not provided any details on potential factors leading to the disaster.

Footage aired by Brazilian TV station GloboNews showed a large section of the crash site engulfed in flames, with smoke billowing from what appeared to be the plane's fuselage. Video shared on social media captured the terrifying moment the aircraft descended rapidly before crashing into the residential neighborhood.

It is unclear if any residents of Vinhedo were injured in the crash. Local emergency services rushed to the scene, but there were no reports of survivors.

The nearby municipality of Valinhos also confirmed that all on board the flight had perished. Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, speaking at an event in the southern part of the country, acknowledged the tragedy, stating that it appeared all passengers and crew had lost their lives. He then asked the crowd to observe a minute of silence in memory of the victims.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash, as the nation mourns the loss of 62 lives in this devastating incident.
