This year’s Green Agenda Cyprus Summit will shine a spotlight on how Cyprus can step up its role in environmental protection and sustainable development. The conference’s main goal is to support the country’s national strategy for a Green Transition and to promote Cyprus as a model of eco-awareness and sustainability.
Key speakers who will be part of this collective effort for a greener and more resilient future include Olympia Nisiforou, Constantinos Yiorkadjis, and George Chryssochos.
Olympia Nisiforou will moderate a panel titled “Impacts of Climate Change in the Mediterranean and the Actions Required to Reverse the Trend.”
She is an assistant professor at Cyprus University of Technology, in the Department of Shipping and Commerce. She holds certifications in Quantitative Risk Management and Circular Economy and Sustainability Strategies from Cambridge University’s Judge Business School. Her academic background spans marine science and oceanography, sustainable shipping operations, and multiple postgraduate degrees in environmental pollution control and natural sciences. She also holds a PhD in pollution monitoring and renewable energy, for which she received a scholarship from the Cyprus Research and Innovation Foundation. She has been honored globally, including a top scholarship award from UNESCO, and has earned distinctions from banks such as Piraeus and Hellenic Bank for her academic excellence. Nisiforou brings solid international experience in interdisciplinary research.
Constantinos Yiorkadjis will participate in the panel “Cities On The Grill: How To Manage Temperature.”
Yiorkadjis is president of the Nicosia Chamber of Commerce and Industry and holds two degrees with magna cum laude distinction in economics and business administration from Boston University. His long career includes leadership roles in competitive business environments across the US, Europe, Asia, and Africa. He began in the U.S. with Thermo Electron, moved on to Hellenic Bottling Company in Greece, and then took on senior roles at Molino in Romania. In 2000, he joined FRIGOGLASS as Regional Operations Director, overseeing factories in Ireland, Romania, and Spain, and managing strategic partnerships with Coca-Cola in over 100 countries. In 2002, he was promoted to marketing director of the company’s Cool Division. He returned to Cyprus in 2005 and became Marketing Director of Lanitis Bros. (CCHBC Cyprus) in 2006.
George Chryssochos will also be on the “Cities On The Grill” panel.
He is the executive director of the Cyfield Group, bringing years of hands-on experience in all areas of the family-run business. Before fully joining Cyfield, he worked as a consultant in the U.S. and Greece with Navigant and McKinsey & Company while remaining involved in strategic planning for Cyfield. Returning to Cyprus with a vision to expand Cyfield’s reach across the region in engineering and energy, he now also leads the Cyprus Electricity Market Association and is a member of professional bodies in Cyprus and the U.S., including Chi Epsilon, ASCE, and ETEK. He holds a degree in civil engineering from Georgia Tech and a master’s in structural engineering from Stanford University. He also serves on the board of the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) and has completed military service as a reserve second lieutenant.
