Newsroom

A fire broke out in a tyre shop in Paphos early Thursday, causing extensive damage to the building and its contents, police said.

The fire started around 5:30 a.m. in the East Paphos area, where the shop is located. Firefighters arrived at the scene and managed to put out the flames after about an hour, according to a police statement.

No injuries were reported, but the shop and the tyres stored inside were severely damaged. The amount of the loss has not yet been estimated, police said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Police said they are looking into the possibility of arson, as there have been several similar incidents in Paphos in recent weeks.

Paphos is a coastal city in the southwest of Cyprus, known for its historical and cultural attractions. It is also a popular tourist destination, especially during the summer season.
