Petrol station owners gathered at the GSP Stadium at 10am this morning to begin their protest march towards the presidential palace against the transport minister's new decree.
The demonstration was organized by the Pancyprian Association of Petrol Station Owners in order to raise their concern about the new decree, which requires all fuel tanks to comply with ADR (hazardous materials) regulations.

According to them, the enforcement of ADR will immobilize 80-90% of existing fuel tanks, which would also put at stake the jobs of many workers. Protesters will march toward the presidential palace with the purpose of demanding President Christodoulides’ intervention in the issue.

The police have also involved themselves in the matter to ensure the safety of the protesters and everyone else. They will be present during the protest and have advised that drivers find alternate roads to avoid the protest and any ordeal that they may face, as well as asked for their understanding, cooperation, and patience with police officers at the scene of the protest.
