Newsroom

Severe weather continued on Sunday with Nicosia streets being flooded again as the capital was being pounded by heavy storms, strong winds, and hail in the later afternoon.

Nicosia roads in Strovolos municipality were being flooded due to heavy rain, with police issuing warnings to drivers in many areas, including along the Limassol-Nicosia highway near Dali, south of the capital.

Motorists are being warned to stay clear of roads with layers of water as hydroplaning could occur. Police also advised members of the public to avoid driving if at all possible.

Reports said there were also intense hail storms west of the city, especially in Lakatamia while intense rain was recorded in rural area such as Malounda and Aridiou.
