Paphos police detained seven individuals on Sunday to assist with investigations into an alleged case of illegal assembly and carrying weapons to incite fear. Initially, the seven were apprehended for illegal possession of aggressive tools near a department store area in Kato Paphos.

According to Assistant Police Operations Director Michalis Nicolaou, around 2:25 a.m. on Sunday, a police patrol intercepted a vehicle carrying the seven individuals, aged between 19 and 36, in the department store area.

Inside the vehicle, various aggressive tools such as bats and stones were reportedly found. The individuals were initially arrested for illegal possession of aggressive tools.

On Sunday, new arrest warrants were issued against them, and the seven were rearrested for conspiracy to commit an offense, participation in an illegal assembly, carrying weapons to incite fear, and transporting aggressive tools.

As Mr. Nicolaou stated, further investigations suggest that the seven individuals were heading to a specific location to locate other individuals and engage in altercations. Investigations are ongoing by the Paphos CID.
