Just one positive coronavirus case emerged on Monday when 1,916 lab tests were carried out to check samples for virus, bringing the total number of cases detected in the Republic of Cyprus to 1,488.
The single positive case involved a Polish tourist who arrived in Paphos via Germany on Sunday. He was detected through random sampling conducted on passengers arriving on his flight.
The Famagusta general hospital is currently treating seven coronavirus patients, one of which is in the ICU, while another coronavirus patient is being treated in the Nicosia general hospital ICU.
Six coronavirus cases were also detected on Sunday in the north, where 322 coronavirus cases have so far been recorded and four have died.
Ali Pilli, in charge on health affairs in the north, said four of the new cases arrived in the north by air while two were contacts of other known cases.
