Former European Union Health and Food Safety Commissioner Stella Kyriakides has been invited to join the Champions of Women’s Health network, part of the Global Alliance for Women’s Health.

The appointment recognizes Kyriakides’ years of work promoting health equality and empowering women at both European and international levels. In her new role, she will help strengthen global efforts to tackle inequalities in women’s health, advocate for evidence-based policies, and ensure gender considerations are systematically included in health policy-making.

“Women’s health is not just a matter of justice; it is an investment in the future of our societies,” Kyriakides said. “I am honored to be part of this international initiative that places women at the center of the global health agenda.”

The World Economic Forum’s International Alliance for Women’s Health brings together governments, international organizations, academia, and the private sector to create common policies and innovative solutions aimed at improving women’s health worldwide.

Kyriakides’ participation further strengthens Europe’s role in global efforts to promote a fairer, more inclusive, and progressive approach to women’s health.
