Sunshine, sea breezes and a sprinkle of mountain magic

Cyprus wakes up to warm temperatures and drifting clouds.

Newsroom

The weather seems to be in one of its gentle moods today, drifting across Cyprus with soft clouds, warm breezes and just the tiniest hint of mountain mischief. A weak low-pressure system is lingering nearby, while a dusty veil in the atmosphere is expected to wave goodbye by later today.

This morning brings stretches of medium and high cloud, giving the sky a dreamy painted look. Up in the mountains, a shy little shower may appear here and there; nothing dramatic, just enough to make the pine trees gossip. Winds will wander in from the south and southwest, starting softly before picking up a little confidence later in the day. The sea will stay mostly calm and friendly, with only a slight afternoon wobble.

Temperatures will feel properly summery, reaching around 31°C inland, about 28°C along the southern and eastern coasts, near 25°C in western and northern areas, and a fresh 21°C in the higher mountains.

Tonight, the island settles into a mostly clear and peaceful evening. A few sleepy patches of mist and low cloud may curl up in western and southeastern areas before dawn, while gentle breezes continue to drift across the coastlines. Seas remain calm to slight, perfect weather for a late-night stroll or a quiet moment under the stars.

Looking ahead, Friday and the weekend promise a mix of sunshine and passing clouds, with the mountains once again holding onto a small chance of a light shower on Friday and Saturday.

Temperatures will dip a little on Friday, taking a brief holiday below the seasonal average, before climbing back up over the weekend to their usual Maytime charm.
