Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar has voiced support for bolstering the "security forces" in the self-declared Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, claiming that these forces have evolved into a "regular army" since 1976.

According to reports from the Cyprus News Agency, Tatar made these remarks during a meeting with the new "commander" of the "security forces," İlker Gökoğlu, as reported by the newspaper Güneş.

Earlier, Tatar met with Turkey's new "ambassador" to the occupied territories, Yasin Ekrem Serim, who pledged cooperation for a "better future" for the region.

Additionally, Tatar held discussions with Ali Koklu, the president of the Netherlands branch of the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen's Association (MÜSIAD). During the meeting, Tatar argued that the "isolation of Turkish Cypriots" constitutes a violation of human rights and called for collaboration with international organizations to end it.
