Good morning, Cyprus, it’s Friday, April 4, 2025. Yes, it’s Friday!!! Yayyyyy!!! The weekend is finally upon us, and while the weather may be playing hard to get, we’ve got something to brighten even the stormiest of days.
Today is World Stray Animals Day, and here at SPP Media, home of KNEWS and Kathimerini Cyprus (yours truly), we’re marking it with a heartwarming event:
Drop the Beats, Adopt the Paws!
We’re opening our doors to celebrate our furry friends with music, joy, and the chance to give a rescue animal a loving home.
There will be doggie ice cream, cool drinks, great music, and—most importantly—plenty of paws looking for their forever people.
Come meet them, fall in love, and help us turn a stormy day into a brighter future. Because adopting a pet doesn’t just change their life—it might just change yours too.
More about the event here.
As for the weather… well, brace yourselves.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for severe thunderstorms and hail, valid from 12:00 noon to 6:00 PM. If you were hoping for a sun-soaked Friday, you might want to trade that beach towel for an umbrella (and maybe a helmet? Hail’s coming.)
Here’s the full scoop:
- Morning: Partly cloudy, with a chance of light coastal rain.
- Midday onward: Clouds get serious, bringing local showers and isolated thunderstorms, mostly in the mountains, inland, north, and east. Expect hail and heavy downpours (35–55 mm/hr).
- Winds: Light to moderate, shifting directions as the day goes on.
- Temps: Around 22°C inland, 20°C on the coast, and a chilly 8°C up in the mountains.
Tonight: Mostly clear skies with some cloud flirtation in the west and north—possible drizzle. Inland and eastern areas might wake up to fog or mist.
Weekend sneak peek:
- Saturday: Starts sweet, ends with scattered storms (again).
- Sunday: Cloudy with occasional showers.
- Monday: Clearer skies and warmer temps on the horizon.
Stay safe, stay dry, and if the skies open up, consider it nature’s drumroll for a day of paws and purpose.
