Tourist survives hang gliding accident in Paralimni

Pilot badly injured after going down in powered hang glider accident in Cape Greco

A badly injured tourist was rushed to the Emergency Room on Sunday after his motorized hang glider crashed in a remote area in Cape Greco.

According to local media, a 51-year-old French national was using a powered hang glider near Paralimni, Famagusta district, Sunday early evening when he got involved in an accident.

The hang glider reportedly went down in a remote area in Cape Greco, while details of the incident were not immediately known.

Fire fighters in Paralimni were notified around 6pm by the Joint Rescue Coordination Center, while a foot search party and an ambulance also rushed to the area.

The injured pilot was rushed to the ER at Famagusta General Hospital, where doctors on duty said he sustained multiple injuries and bone fractures all over his body.

Officials at the Cyprus Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation Board have also been notified.
