In an incident that occurred on Monday evening in the Harbor of Kato Paphos, a 37-year-old traffic warden of the Municipality of Paphos was injured.
According to the spokesperson for the Paphos Traffic Police and the responsible person of the Paphos Traffic Accident and Emergency Department, Michalis Nikolaou, at 6:30 PM on Monday, two individuals, a 37-year-old traffic warden and a 54-year-old citizen, filed complaints with the police, accusing each other of attacking and assaulting one another.
Based on preliminary investigations, as reported by the police, it appears that the traffic warden was engaged in a discussion with a third person regarding some kind of wrongdoing that had been committed, and the 54-year-old is said to have intervened, resulting in a verbal altercation between the two.
The 37-year-old traffic warden claimed that he was attacked by the 54-year-old citizen, while the 54-year-old stated in his complaint to the police that he was the first to be assaulted by the traffic warden.
The traffic warden was transported to the Accident and Emergency Department of Paphos General Hospital, where it was determined that he had suffered actual physical injuries, specifically abrasions.
The 54-year-old did not visit Paphos Hospital.
Written statements were obtained from both individuals, said Mr. Nikolaou, noting that statements will also be taken from independent witnesses in order to clarify the matter.
