Judges in the Turkish city of Edirne on Tuesday rejected for the fifth time an appeal for the release of two Greek soldiers held in a prison there since early March.
According to Skai TV, the court said that authorities were still going through the telephones found on Lieutenant Angelos Mitretodis and Sergeant Dimitris Kouklatzis when they accidentally strayed into Turkish territory while on patrol during a storm on Greece’s northeastern border.
No charges have been brought against the soldiers during their detention, which Greek authorities say was an excessive reaction under the circumstances.
The issue has further strained relations between Athens and Ankara.
