The Health Ministry announced two new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, involving a contact of another known case and a person with travel history who took the initiative to get tested.
Contact tracing efforts collected 29 samples that were sent to be checked for the virus, with one coming back positive. The specific case was a contact of a person who was announced as a positive coronavirus case on Monday, who had arrived in Cyprus from the US.
The second case was found among a pool of 358 samples collected from people who chose to get tested at their private initiative, with one person with a history of travel testing positive for coronavirus. The person had flown to Cyprus on June 26 from a category A country.
A bulk of 1,320 samples were checked for the virus on Monday, among which were over 400 airport arrivals and repatriated persons.
