In a critical condition, a 17-year-old resident of Paralimni is hospitalized at the Nicosia General Hospital after being injured last night in a road collision in Ayia Napa. Also injured in the crash was an 18-year-old, who is being treated at a private clinic in Famagusta province.
The road collision occurred around 10:30 p.m. yesterday on Cape Greco Avenue in Ayia Napa. The two youths were riding a motorcycle driven by the 18-year-old. Under circumstances being investigated by the police, the driver lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to overturn and injuring both passengers.
The 18-year-old was transported to a private clinic in Famagusta province, where he was kept for treatment after being found to have rib fractures and abrasions in various parts of his body.
The 17-year-old was initially taken to Ammochostos General Hospital, where he was diagnosed with a cranial-cerebral injury. Due to his health condition, he was intubated and transferred to Nicosia General Hospital, where he is currently being treated. His health condition is described as extremely critical by attending physicians.
The Ayia Napa Police Station is investigating the causes of the collision.
