Police have appealed for public assistance in identifying two women suspected of stealing money and personal belongings from an 82-year-old woman at her home in Agios Dometios on October 20.
Photographs of the two suspects have been released as part of the investigation. They are believed to be aged around 30 and 40.
The victim’s son, Haris Trokkoudis, told the television programme Enimerosi Tora that the women approached his mother’s home, claiming to be involved in gardening work.
They reportedly asked the elderly woman for clothes, food and money to support their families. After gaining her confidence, they allegedly took cash and other items from her handbag and the kitchen while she gathered belongings to give them.
Among the items reported missing were personal possessions belonging to the woman’s late husband, which had significant sentimental value to her, her son said.
Police are asking anyone who recognises the women or has information that could help locate them to contact the Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department on 22 802222, their nearest police station or the Citizen’s Hotline on 1460.
