Members of the British Cypriot community assembled outside the Turkish embassy in London on Friday for a demonstration organized by the Famagusta Association of Great Britain. The rally marked 52 years since the 1974 Turkish military invasion of Cyprus.

Demonstrators called for an end to the military occupation of northern Cyprus, the withdrawal of Turkish troops, and the removal of settlers. Organizers reaffirmed their demand for displaced Cypriots to return to their ancestral homes and properties under the authority of the Republic of Cyprus.

The Famagusta Association stated that its campaign for human rights and political justice remains unchanged, promising continued opposition to international law violations on the island.

Participants urged global leaders to keep the division of Cyprus active on the diplomatic agenda to support a resolution based on international standards.

Speaking at the demonstration, Dr. Vassilis Mavrou, president of the organization, criticized the continued occupation of 37 percent of Cypriot territory and the disregard for United Nations resolutions. He pledged that community members in the United Kingdom will continue advocating for full implementation of UN Security Council decisions and the total withdrawal of foreign forces.
