The vaccination portal is set to open on Wednesday for those aged 69 and over, the Health Ministry announced Tuesday.
A total of 17,496 appointment slots will made available at vaccination centers across Cyprus that are stocked with vaccines that have so far been authorised by the European Medicines Agency (EMA), those developed by Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca.
The Health Ministry said it expects the EMA to assess the application submitted by Johnson&Johnson in the coming days.
According to the figures by the Ministry, by March 1 a total of 82,564 vaccinations took place island-wide. Last week, two more vaccination centers started operating in Larnaca and Paphos. The centers will be able to inoculate up to 15,000 people daily.
The Ministry advised the public to arrive at vaccination centers on time and not earlier to avoid overcrowding. The next available appointments according to age category will be announced in due time.
