A serious investigation is underway after workers from the Forestry Department found a stash of weapons, drugs, and other items believed to be linked to criminal activity in a Limassol park.
On the morning of December 17, while cleaning the Pano Polemidia Forest Park, workers stumbled upon a bag hidden in a bush. Inside, they discovered a revolver, bullets, and a detonator. Police were immediately called to the scene and, with the help of detection dogs, uncovered even more.
A second bag was found in the same area, containing two pistols with loaded magazines, several cartridges, mortar propellants, four fire extinguishers, and a metal object resembling a homemade water pipe. In addition, a nylon bag was recovered, holding 19 packets of cannabis weighing over one kilogram.
Authorities have taken the items for ballistics and other forensic tests. Investigators believe they have intercepted a major criminal plot, but are still working to identify the owners of the weapons and drugs. They are also exploring whether the suspects could be operating outside of Limassol.
Police are urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward.
