A chaotic scene unfolded on Makarios Avenue in Larnaca on the night of Wednesday, February 26, when a confrontation broke out among a group of young men. According to police reports, the incident involved individuals of Arab origin.
Officers quickly responded to the disturbance, dispatching patrol cars to the scene. However, as soon as the police arrived, the youths scattered in various directions, evading capture.
Thankfully, there were no reports of injuries from the altercation, and no one sought medical attention or lodged a complaint with the authorities. Despite this, the police are taking the matter seriously and have conducted thorough searches in the area to locate those involved.
In addition to the on-the-ground search, law enforcement is also reviewing CCTV footage from nearby cameras to help identify the individuals who were part of the disturbance.
At this point, authorities have not made any arrests, and the investigation is ongoing. While the incident appears to have been relatively minor, police are determined to piece together what happened and prevent further incidents from occurring in the area.
