The Rolling Stones are back with their first original music album in 18 years, titled "Hackney Diamonds." This announcement comes after the passing of drummer Charlie Watts, who contributed to two tracks on the album. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood appeared at the Hackney Empire in London to discuss the recording and premiere the single "Angry," featuring actress Sydney Sweeney.
Jagger expressed their excitement about creating new music, describing the album's contemporary sound, which includes rock, ballads, dance, and country elements. Richards mentioned that Watts' passing inspired them to continue recording.
The album includes contributions from Bill Wyman, new drummer Steve Jordan, Paul McCartney, and Stevie Wonder. It was produced by Andrew Watt and recorded in various locations. "Hackney Diamonds" will be released on October 20.
Fans had been eagerly awaiting this announcement since a cryptic newspaper advertisement teased the album's arrival, referencing the band's classics and the new album's title.
