The British pound jumped 0.5 percent against the dollar, from $1.193 to $1.199

The pound jumped 0.5 percent against the dollar, from $1.193 to $1.199, as investors reacted positively to Johnson's expected resignation.

As the Financial Times reports, expectations have grown that UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson will resign on Thursday, after days of chaos and ministerial resignations.

The newspaper reported that investors had shown little reaction to the stream of ministerial resignations in the previous 48 hours, but the pound strengthened on news that Johnson was set to step down, ending days of turmoil.
