Boris Johnson will resign, leaving a power vacuum at the top of the Tory party and MPs vying to take over the sinking ship.
Boris Johnson is resigning as Conservative Party leader, the BBC has reported.
Boris Johnson spoke to Sir Graham Brady, the chair of the Conservative backbench 1922 Committee, and agreed to stand down, No 10 sources are saying. The decision was reportedly taken at about 8.30am.
It comes after around a third of all MPs who held non-Cabinet ministerial positions quit at the start of the week.
