Hadassah Medical Center is making a major entry into the Cyprus healthcare market, expanding its presence on the island with a new medical center in Limassol expected to open in June, as well as plans for a hospital development in Nicosia within the next three years.

The Israeli medical organization, which has a 115-year history and international reputation, is moving ahead with what it describes as a strategic expansion into Cyprus.

Speaking to the “Epicheirein” business segment on the “Diaspora Eidiseon” program on SPOR FM 95.0, Hadassah Medical Center CEO Dr. Giorgos Zachariadis said the Limassol medical center is in its final stage of preparation and will begin operating gradually, with services being introduced step by step to ensure high quality standards and full alignment with Hadassah’s international protocols in Israel.

The center will offer modern and advanced medical services to both beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries of Cyprus’ national health system, GeSY.

Services will include advanced diagnostic imaging such as MRI and CT scans, along with specialized testing in cardiology, neurology, and laboratory medicine. Patients will also have access to specialist doctors, rehabilitation and recovery programs, preventive healthcare services, and long-term health management.

A key part of the center’s operation will be its close connection with Hadassah in Israel, allowing patients to seek second medical opinions and, where necessary, receive treatment abroad for more complex medical cases.

In such cases, the Limassol center will handle the patient’s preparation, coordinate directly with doctors in Israel, and continue monitoring the patient both before and after treatment.

According to Zachariadis, the philosophy of the center is based on advanced, high-quality healthcare with a holistic approach to patient care and cooperation between multiple medical specialties aimed at achieving accurate diagnoses and effective treatment.

He said the center’s main advantage lies in its access to internationally recognized medical protocols, modern technology and equipment, and what he described as a complete patient care journey, from diagnosis and treatment to rehabilitation and prevention.

At the same time, Hadassah is also moving ahead with the second phase of its Cyprus expansion, involving the development of a mixed-use hospital project within the administrative boundaries of Lakatamia.

The project is currently in the licensing stage and is expected to be completed within around three years. It is expected to offer inpatient hospital care, educational partnerships, and research activity.

Zachariadis said he believes the quality and specialized nature of the services offered by the medical center will be positively received by the Cyprus market and will contribute to upgrading healthcare services on the island.
