Meet Famagusta’s new tour guide, and it’s powered by AI

The coastal district becomes Cyprus’ first destination with a smart digital assistant for tourists.

Planning your next beach day or looking for a good taverna in Famagusta just got a whole lot easier. The coastal district has become the first tourist destination in Cyprus to roll out an artificial intelligence digital assistant, basically a smart chat tool that acts like your own personal tour guide.

The new assistant, developed by local tech firm RevitUp and supported by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, is available on www.visitfamagusta.com.cy.  It’s designed to guide, inform, and help visitors on the go, instantly and in plain language.

This isn’t just another chatbot. It can recommend beaches, local attractions, events, or scenic routes based on what you’re interested in. It also gives practical info like museum opening hours, transport options, and directions through Google Maps.

Even better? It speaks 194 languages and is available 24/7, so whether you’re checking in from Japan or Johannesburg, it’s got you covered.

“Artificial intelligence is changing how people experience a destination,” the Famagusta Tourism Board said. “We’ve gone beyond just ‘smart’ phones and apps, this is intelligence that actually understands and interacts with people.”

The launch is part of Famagusta’s bigger push to modernize tourism. The district already offers a mobile app, a 360-degree virtual tour of local landmarks, and a well-stocked tourism website. The AI assistant now ties it all together, giving visitors a faster, friendlier, and more personal way to explore.
