A new private hospital is coming to Lakatamia, as the Environmental Authority has officially approved the construction of Hadassah Healthcare Park, a large-scale development that will also include a medical university, biotech offices, and student housing.
The five-story hospital will offer 156 inpatient beds, outpatient clinics, a mechanical floor, and an underground level. It’s part of a broader plan by Osopil Ltd. to create a mixed-use medical campus aimed at improving healthcare access while boosting education and research in the area.
Alongside the hospital, the project includes a five-story medical university designed for up to 900 students, office space for biotechnology companies, and a six-story student dormitory with ground-floor parking. Rooftop solar panels will be installed on all buildings to support the site’s energy needs sustainably.
According to the Environmental Authority, the project does not pose any risk to nearby protected areas or ecosystems and is located well outside the boundaries of the Natura 2000 network. As such, no special ecological assessment was required.
The approval comes after months of review. The environmental impact report was first submitted in October 2024, and the public was invited to submit feedback. Following requests for additional technical details in April, the Environmental Impact Assessment Committee gave the green light at a meeting held in late May.
Construction is expected to take about two years. Once completed, officials say the project will create new jobs, attract investment, and enhance the social and economic profile of Lakatamia.
Developers also hope the Hadassah Healthcare Park will become a hub for both healthcare services and innovation in the medical and biotech fields, making it a landmark development not just for the municipality, but for the entire region.
