The Mayor of Nicosia, Constantinos Yiorkadjis, and the director of the company "OIKODOMIKES EPICHEIRISEIS STAVROS A. STAVROU LTD" have signed contracts for the construction of new student dormitories in the city.

According to an announcement by the Nicosia Municipality, as part of their efforts to attract new residents, they are continuing their investment within the city walls with the construction of student dormitories on Voulgaroktonou, Arsinoe, and Komninou streets. This project, in conjunction with other initiatives, aims to breathe new life into the city center and contribute to the revitalization of downtown Nicosia by attracting students.

The project will feature 50 rooms, one of which will be designed to accommodate individuals with disabilities. Each room will be equipped with a single-door refrigerator, microwave oven, double electric stove, extractor hood, and heating/cooling air conditioning. Additionally, two laundry rooms with 12 washing machines and 12 dryers will be created.

Furthermore, the building will be equipped with a photovoltaic electricity generation system, anti-theft security, closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance, a call system for individuals with disabilities, an access control system, an automation system (lighting control), lightning protection, and a television system for television signal reception.

The project's budget amounts to €3,821,462 plus VAT and is financed by the European Union's Recovery and Resilience Mechanism within the framework of Cyprus' Recovery and Resilience Plan.

Maintenance/restoration work is expected to commence on September 16, 2023, and last for 16 months.
