Three workers were seriously injured after reportedly falling about nine meters while working at a building under construction in Strovolos, according to Kathimerini, citing police.

The men, ages 33, 45 and 49, were taken by ambulance to Nicosia General Hospital. In the medical update reported Sunday, the 45-year-old was described as critical but stable, while the other two were in serious condition.

The accident happened Thursday, Oct. 8, between approximately 9:30 and 10:15 a.m. However, the complaint was submitted to police at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, more than two days later. The report did not explain the interval between the accident and the complaint.

What caused the men to fall remains under investigation. Strovolos police are working with the Labor Inspection Department to establish the circumstances. The report provided no details about the task the workers were carrying out or the safety measures in place at the site.
