A brand new €50 million ALPHAMEGA hypermarket and commercial complex is on the way to Engomi, and it’s not just a supermarket. It’s shaping up to be one of the biggest private developments in the area, complete with shops, restaurants, offices, and even a gym, creating a new hub for shopping, dining, and business in Nicosia.

According to Kathimerini's Dorita Yiannakou, construction is now officially greenlit by the Environmental Authority and will take place on a massive plot near the Metochi of Agios Prokopios, a prime piece of land in the heart of Engomi. The development, owned by C.A. Papaellinas Emporiki Ltd., will sit between Griva Digeni, Agios Prokopios, Makedonias, and Kranidioti Avenues, a location that guarantees visibility and easy access.

Once completed, the modern complex will span across four levels (including underground parking) and cover over 11,600 square meters of built space. It will feature a large ALPHAMEGA store, various retail shops, restaurants and cafés, and office space with added facilities like a fitness center.

Parking won’t be a problem; there will be 640 spots, including spaces for people with disabilities and cyclists. Plus, to help cut down on the environmental footprint, the building will include solar panels expected to power at least 25% of its energy needs.

The project is set to create 140 jobs and welcome around 13,000 visitors per day once it opens, adding a serious boost to local commerce and daily life.

Construction is expected to begin soon and take about two years to complete, a countdown that’s already begun for what may become one of Nicosia’s most exciting new landmarks.
