Authorities detained 11 people on Wednesday after they were discovered working illegally at a construction site in Larnaca District. Officials said the group, all third-country nationals, had no authorization from the relevant authority to be employed.

The arrests took place during a morning inspection at an apartment complex under construction. Police are investigating the case as illegal employment.

Two employers connected to the site have been ordered to appear before the Larnaca Minor Offenses Department.

The operation was a joint effort involving officers from the Aliens and Immigration Service’s Larnaca Unit, the Green Line Surveillance and Migration Control Division, and the Inspection Service of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance.

Inspectors also uncovered multiple violations of labor laws related to undeclared work. Administrative fines totaling €42,500 were issued to those responsible, authorities said.
