A 15-year-old girl drowned while swimming in Larnaca Bay on Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. local time. Upon receiving the distress call, the Larnaca Coastal Patrol Service Department (CPSD) swiftly mobilized rescue units. A speedboat from the Larnaca District Administration's lifeboat unit, a vessel from the Port and Maritime Police, an ambulance from the Larnaca Ambulance Service, and a foot patrol from the Larnaca Police Department were dispatched to the scene.
Rescue boat crews located the girl unconscious in the water and immediately transported her to Larnaca General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
