224 coronavirus cases were detected on Friday, when 3,693 tests were conducted, raising total known cases to 5,557.
97 of Friday’s cases involved contacts of other known cases, 80 were people who took the initiative to get tested, 19 were tested at general hospitals, while 16 involved arrivals at Cyprus airports.
Seven more were either part of special health groups or were referred for testing by their GP, one was detected at a school, one was detected through the Cyprus Football Association’s sampling program, and three more were residents of migrant camps.
The Famagusta general hospital is currently treating 54 coronavirus patients, five of which are in the ICU, while the Nicosia general is treating six coronavirus patients in the ICU and an additional 10 patients in its coronavirus ward.
