Authorities in Cyprus arrested a 57-year-old man from Nicosia on Monday, as part of an investigation into child pornography.
The arrest follows evidence uncovered by the Cybercrime Unit, suggesting that an individual in Cyprus had, on several occasions, shared files containing child sexual abuse material online.
Subsequent inquiries led investigators to the suspect. Members of the Electronic Crime Subdivision conducted a search of his residence, where they seized a computer, mobile phone, external hard drive, and several data storage devices.
A preliminary inspection of the suspect's computer revealed numerous files related to child sexual abuse, prompting his arrest. He remains in custody to assist with the investigation, as authorities continue their efforts to gather further evidence.
