A 75-year-old man is in serious condition after he was struck by a bicycle during a charity cycling race in Ormidia on Saturday.
The incident happened around 5:30 p.m., according to police. Authorities said the man was attempting to cross the road on foot when he was hit by a 38-year-old cyclist participating in the event.
Both the pedestrian and the cyclist fell to the ground. The pedestrian was injured in the fall.
He was taken to Larnaca General Hospital, where doctors diagnosed a brain hemorrhage. He was later transferred to Nicosia General Hospital, where he remains in serious condition, officials said.
The Xylotymbou Police Station is investigating the incident.
