Press Release
The Green Agenda Cyprus Summit, the island’s largest sustainability conference, returns to Nicosia on June 4, 2026, under the theme “Transition as a responsibility (not a trend),” bringing together leading figures from the worlds of sustainability and innovation. Among this year’s speakers is Abdulrahman Al Baker, Director of Production Planning and Water Resources at Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa), where he leads strategic planning in Qatar’s energy and water sectors.
With very limited natural freshwater resources and a climate that grows hotter and drier each year, Qatar has spent decades learning how to survive and grow through desalination and smarter water management. During the summit, Al Baker is expected to discuss how the country transformed one of its biggest challenges into a long-term national strategy, while also exploring what Cyprus, facing many of the same climate pressures and water shortages, can realistically learn from Qatar’s experience in securing its own water future.
The Green Agenda Cyprus Summit is presented by Altia.
