Another yellow warning? Cyprus summer is just being Cyprus again

Sun’s out, warnings out. Cyprus summer doesn’t do subtle.

Newsroom

We’ve had a few yellow warnings already, and guess what? Here comes another one. Honestly, it wouldn’t feel like summer in Cyprus without at least one reminder that our weather has absolutely no chill.

Today, we’re back under yellow alert from noon till five in the afternoon, thanks to a persistent seasonal low-pressure system and a warm air mass that refuses to take a break. Translation? It's hot. Very hot. The skies will be mostly clear, but don't get too comfortable, coastal areas will see some low clouds hanging around like they forgot to leave the party, and the mountains might surprise us with a brief, moody shower around midday. Just a little drama to keep things interesting.

Winds will be doing their thing, starting off light to moderate from the southwest to northwest before turning up the volume, especially along the coasts. Meanwhile, the sea will be slightly rough, which feels just right for the general vibe: not dangerous, just annoyingly uncooperative.

Temperatures are out here living their best (and hottest) lives, around 40°C inland, a slightly more merciful 31°C on the west coast, roughly 35°C on the rest of the coasts, and a toasty 32°C in the higher mountain areas. So yes, it's officially “walk five steps and regret everything” weather.

Tonight won’t bring much relief. Low clouds will sneak back in, and by early morning, some inland and eastern spots might wake up in a fog, literally. Winds will calm down a bit, and while the sea will still be slightly rough up north and west, it’ll mellow out in the south and east. Temperatures will dip ever so slightly to 24°C inland, 23°C along the coast, and 22°C in the mountains, basically the summer version of “cool.”

As for Thursday through Saturday, expect more of the same. Clear skies will dominate, but those low clouds will continue to make guest appearances, especially during the night and early morning. Some fog might sneak in again, particularly inland and out east.

And no, don’t expect any real change in temperature. It’s staying above average, stubborn as ever, like that one friend who always shows up overdressed and refuses to acknowledge it. Love it or hate it, this is Cyprus in the summer, sweaty, sunny, and just a little dramatic.
