Authorities are investigating after the body of an unidentified man was found in the sea off the coast of Avdimou, close to the Pissouri area, on Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency services were alerted shortly before members of the Port and Maritime Police arrived at the scene to recover the body from the water. The surrounding area was secured while standard investigative procedures were carried out.
At this stage, officials have not confirmed the identity of the deceased. It remains unclear whether the man is the 56-year-old Russian businessman who has been reported missing in recent days and whose disappearance prompted extensive search operations in and around Pissouri.
Preliminary information indicates that the body will be transferred for a post-mortem examination. The autopsy is expected to determine the cause of death and assist authorities in formally identifying the individual.
Search and investigative efforts are ongoing, and officials are expected to issue a formal statement once more information becomes available.
