Bomb threats target schools across Cyprus, police launch investigation

More than 15 schools received threatening messages about explosives, prompting emergency protocols and a coordinated police response.

Schools across Cyprus were placed on high alert Tuesday morning after receiving threatening messages about bomb threats, prompting an immediate police response. According to reports, more than 15 schools in various districts received messages warning of explosives on their premises.

Authorities activated emergency protocols, and a Crisis Center was swiftly set up under the supervision of the Assistant Chief of Operations. The Police Headquarters' Press Office confirmed that law enforcement is working closely with the Ministry of Education to assess the situation and ensure student safety.

Police Official Statement
"In various schools throughout Cyprus, threatening messages have been received. The Police are taking action according to protocol for such incidents, while a Crisis Center has been established under the supervision of the Assistant Chief of Crime Prevention and Combating. At the same time, the Police remain in close communication with the Ministry of Education."

Students Evacuated, Parents Alerted
As a precaution, school administrations informed parents of the threats and moved students outside while police conducted security checks. Some schools advised parents to pick up their children to avoid prolonged exposure to the cold.

The nature and origin of the threats remain under investigation, and authorities have yet to confirm whether any credible danger exists.
