Brace yourselves, Cyprus — the weather has plans!

A brief visit from low pressure promises clouds, showers, and maybe a little drama — but don’t worry, clearer skies are on the horizon.

It seems the island is getting a brief, moody spell courtesy of a weak low-pressure system. Think of it as the weather equivalent of a guest who pops by uninvited, makes a little fuss, and leaves before you really get annoyed.

Here’s what you can expect as the skies decide to throw some clouds, showers, and maybe even a bit of hail your way — just to keep things interesting.

A weak low-pressure system is set to briefly affect the island.

Today, expect the skies to gradually turn mostly cloudy. By the afternoon, local showers and isolated thunderstorms will roll in, starting in the northwest and spreading to other areas. Some thunderstorms could even bring hail. Winds will blow mainly from the southwest to northwest, staying light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be rough to a little rough. Temperatures will reach around 18°C inland, 20°C along the coast, and 9°C in the mountains.

Tonight, clouds will linger, with a chance of isolated showers or thunderstorms, particularly along the coast. Winds will shift to the northeast, remaining light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will stay a little rough. Expect temperatures to dip to 12°C inland and on the coast, while the higher mountains will chill to around 4°C.

Looking ahead, on Tuesday, the skies will stay partly cloudy with some isolated showers popping up here and there. Things should clear up by late afternoon. Wednesday and Thursday are looking much better, with mostly clear skies in the forecast.

Temperatures will remain steady over the next three days, staying close to what’s typical for this time of year.
