In a significant move, Prince Harry, formally known as Prince Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex, has officially declared himself a resident of the United States, as per a recent regulatory filing in the United Kingdom.
Having relocated to California in 2020 with his wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, after stepping back from royal duties, Prince Harry had initially hinted at the possibility of the move being temporary.
However, a filing from Travalyst Ltd., a company founded by the prince, submitted to Companies House, a U.K. government agency overseeing public documents for privately owned businesses, now designates the United States as his primary residence for business purposes.
The filing, made under his full name, Prince Henry Charles Albert David Duke Of Sussex, indicates his "New country/State Usually Resident" as the United States.
Travalyst Ltd., established in April 2020 and predominantly owned by the prince, focuses on advising leading travel brands on sustainable tourism practices. Its most recent financial accounts, covering the period up to June 30, 2023, revealed a profit of £56,620 ($70,600).
This alteration in residency status, though filed this week, was documented as of June 29 last year, coinciding with reports of Harry and Meghan's formal departure from Frogmore Cottage, a royal property near Windsor Castle.
Prince Harry had previously mentioned considering applying for American citizenship during an interview in February.
Recently, the couple has made headlines for their media ventures, with Prince Harry's memoir "Spare" gaining attention for its candid portrayal of his early life experiences.
Meanwhile, Meghan launched her own lifestyle brand, "American Riviera Orchard - Montecito," by distributing strawberry jam to influencers across the U.S., a nod to their current residence in the upscale neighborhood of Montecito, Santa Barbara, where they reside with their two children, Archie and Lilibet.
In royal news, Prince William, the heir to the throne, engaged in his first official royal event since his wife Princess Kate announced her cancer treatment. Prince William visited community groups in west London and Surrey to highlight efforts aimed at reducing food waste to address food insecurity and environmental concerns.
