An 80-year-old man driving on the main Polis Chrysochous–Androlykos road struck a cyclist Thursday afternoon, causing her bicycle to hit a second rider and sending both women to the ground, police said.

The collision happened around 3:30 p.m. when the car hit a bicycle travelling ahead of it. The bicycle then skidded into another woman cycling alongside. Police are investigating the circumstances.

A 50-year-old cyclist was taken to Polis Chrysochous Hospital before being transferred to Paphos General Hospital. She suffered a fractured eye socket and leg injuries and remained in the hospital for treatment.

The other cyclist left the scene, and police are trying to identify and locate her.

The driver went to a police station, where he was questioned.

Police said checks found that the injured woman was living in Cyprus without legal permission to stay.

The investigation into the crash continues.
