Charging made easy: Cyprus introduces card payments for EV stations

Direct card payments replace subscription requirements at EAC's public charging stations, streamlining access for electric vehicle drivers.

Charging an electric vehicle (EV) in Cyprus just got easier. The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) has announced a streamlined payment process at its 32 public charging stations, allowing drivers to pay directly with their credit or debit cards.

According to PhileNews, this new system eliminates the need for an e-charge service subscription, making it more convenient for EV owners to top up their batteries.

To further enhance the experience, the EAC has introduced a mobile app available for both Android and iOS devices. The app lets users locate nearby charging stations, check their availability in real time, and start charging immediately—no subscriptions required.

This move is part of the EAC’s broader effort to support the transition to greener transportation by making EV ownership more accessible and user-friendly.
